Catching Carla is the brain child of my love for travel and food. I am one of that typical fresh graduate, who finished her Bachelor’s Degree and have realized that it wasn’t what I want to do in the long run. To explore other opportunities, I studied another diploma course in Canada, and eventually found my passion for travel, food, and writing. After my travels abroad, I eventually I moved back to the Philippines to start my career. I worked as a marketing professional at a retail company for a year and went on to work at a food start-up to do digital marketing, which all, later on, became my source of inspiration to start a blog.
I am an Accountant and a Certified International Trade Specialist by education, Digital Marketeer by passion, and Traveler by choice.
After studying for years and being couped up in my office during the duration of my career, I started to crave for an adventure. Following the loss of a dear family member, and having faced adversities along the way, I started to resent the life and career I once enjoyed. It doomed on me that stability does not necessarily imply that you are living. So with a struck of hope, a truckload of courage and aching heart, I have decided to quit my job and started focusing on becoming a digital nomad by doing remote work. I began taking online lessons to craft my desired career as I venture into the world, one little step at a time.
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking – don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” – Steve Jobs
As cliche as it may seem, I got the name from my favorite Leonardo De Caprio movie called “Catch Me if you can”. At the beginning, I was a bit distraught about my blog name, since I want something that would suit my personality and lifestyle. The first name was supposed to be “Sunsets and Ice Cream” to metaphorically connect it to my blog theme which is travel and food, but it just doesn’t seem personal enough. Finally, one sleepless night, I decided to watch my favorite Leonardo travel movie (no it’s not Titanic!), and it hit me- this could be a very catchy name! At first, I thought, “Catch Carla if you can” is a rather enticing name, but it is way too hideous to be a blog name and so unoriginal! (Leo would have been very disappointed with me!) so I tweaked it a little bit and came up with the simplest of names: Catching Carla.
