My Story

Catching Carla Photo

Catching Carla is the brainchild of my love for travel and food. I am one of that typical fresh graduate, who finished her Bachelor’s Degree and have realized that it wasn’t what I want to do in the long run. To explore other opportunities, I studied another diploma course in Canada and eventually found my passion for travel, food, and writing. After my studies abroad, I eventually I moved back to the Philippines to start my career. I worked as a marketing professional at a retail company for a year and went on to work at a food start-up to do digital marketing, which all, later on, became my source of inspiration to start a blog.

I am an Accountant and a Certified International Trade Specialist by education, Digital Marketeer by passion, and Traveler by choice.

After studying for years and being cooped up in my office for the duration of my career, I started to crave for an adventure. The calling for travel was so strong that I decided to quit my stable office job and started learning skills that would allow me to do remote work. I began taking online lessons to craft my desired career so I can finally start my dream to become a digital nomad. So here I am 25 years old, galavanting across Asia, looking for things that money cannot buy, and experiences that continuously take my breath away – and I have never looked back.  With my third-world passport, limited budget and strict parental culture, I know I will be able to do the things I want to do and finally explore the world with my own two eyes and tiny little feet – all it takes is a dash of luck, immense hard work, bagful of courage and lots and lots of laughter! 🙂

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking – don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” – Steve Jobs
